3 Crucial Tips How to Quit Smoking With Vaping

Quitting smoking might seem a daunting task for many people, and for some it is even like an unattainable dream. Luckily for smokers, there is now an outstanding option out there to finally get rid of their nasty habits – electronic cigarettes. You might ask: do I really need to replace an addiction with another one? Well, first of all, using an e-cigarette has been recently proved to be no more harmful than breathing fresh air, and, secondly, every smoker knows that quitting cold turkey is… well, not so easy.

To read more about vaping from an ex-smokers perspective, you can check out our editor’s experience in his article “How I Quit Smoking and Started Vaping”. However, if you’re ready to put an end to slowly killing yourself, read on! Here they are – three simple but crucial tips on how to finally quit your smoking habit and start a much healthier life with vaping!

3 Crucial Tips How to Quit Smoking With Vaping

1. Choose the right e-liquid

In fact, e-liquid, e-juice or simply juice is the most important component of a personal vaporizer – simply because this is the only thing you can taste and feel when vaping. Many people who try to quit smoking with vaping expect e-liquid – especially tobacco flavors – to taste close to tobacco smoke, and their hopes often get ruined with the first vape. Although there are some juices which are said to closely mimic the flavor of a cigarette, keep in mind that most juices with the word ‘tobacco’ on the packaging are actually made to resemble the taste of that tobacco which you put in your pipe, rolled cigarettes and other smoking devices, but not cigarettes.

While tobacco e-liquid flavors are usually the preference of ex-smokers, it might be a good idea to test out some other, more exotic flavors. My advice is to get at least 5 different flavors in the beginning, and preferably from different brands/lines. In this way, you’ll not throw away your first e-cigarette after a few vapes, and be even able to mix your liquids a bit to achieve perhaps an even better flavor.

Another thing to keep in mind when choosing your first e-liquid is nicotine content. If you’re a smoker, getting a juice with nicotine in it it is a rational decision. If you plan to get rid of nicotine completely, don’t worry much, because you’ll eventually get there, although at first you might need some to better deal with the cravings. When I switched from smoking 30+ cigarettes a day to vaping, I tried a juice with a nicotine content of 24 mg/ml first, and it was right on point. Soon I got down to 12 mg/ml and stayed there for a while, and now I’m concocting my own juices or mixing 6 or 8 mg/ml liquids with the same flavor with no nicotine to achieve a very low nicotine content.

2. Get a decent vaping setup

Let me be clear: in most cases, this is the most underrated step to a life free of tobacco smoke. I personally know a lot of smokers who have gotten quite a wrong impression about e-cigarettes mainly due to low cost, low quality or faulty batteries, cartridges and clearomizers, as well as cheap e-liquids with a pretty much unbearable flavor. People who are new to vaping often purchase products which can be characterized as “too mainstream”, i.e., affordable and easy to use cig-a-likes which closely resemble real tobacco cigarettes, as well as cheap batteries with entry level clearomizers. Although these products sometimes might be a great and easy way to start vaping right away, in many cases, they simply don’t deliver, and the prospective vaper puts these products in the bin – together with the whole idea of becoming a vaper.

In recent years, e-cigarette technology has gone a long way, and such products as powerful box mods and even sub-ohm clearomizers have become quite easy to use and maintain – even for a complete beginner. Don’t fear of devices which look nothing like tobacco cigarettes – remember, vaping is about NOT smoking! I recommend you getting such a mod starter kit (with a mod itself and a clearomizer in it) which simply suits your style.

3. Do not feel uneasy about vaping

As strange as it may sound, never feel uneasy about vaping, especially in public! In fact, this is one of the main reasons why many new vapers go back to their old habit, and sometimes it happens even unconsciously. Yes, vaping might be something new and unseen for a lot of people in many parts of the world; yes, you’re not like the majority if you vape, and, yes, some people will always have scornful or just strange looks on their faces. But the point here is definitely not to be like other people (smokers). The point is to quit smoking, get rid of that nasty breath, improve your overall health, be fit again, as well as save some money. And that’s all about you and your well-being, not other people. Take your freshly acquainted mod out in the public, proudly show it off to your friends and colleagues, take a nice vape and blow a huge cloud of vapor on the smoke break. It might sound cliché, but smoking is the past, while vaping – the future, and very soon sceptics all over the world will look at people who vape much differently.

If you are now considering finally quitting smoking with vaping, you must understand that nothing will work without your determination. Regardless of how smooth this transition goes, you still need to make that decision and commit to it. There will still be people who will probably try to lure you back into analogs, perhaps, there will still be cravings for a cig while sipping on a drink in a bar. However, you must always remember that switching to vaping can improve your life in many aspects.

Hey, congrats on your first vaping kit! You’ve already made a very wise decision.

You might try an e-liquid with a bit higher nicotine level or some juice from a completely different brand. It is also a good idea to avoid the triggers of smoking. For example, if you usually smoke cigarettes on your balcony, try to have a nice vape in a completely different and new place/environment next time when you think about a smoke break.

For me, exercise also helped to get rid of cigarettes – if I had a craving, I’d have a vape first to ingest the much needed nicotine, and then go for a run or do some pushups.

Wishing you the best of luck in your journey! We’re here for you! And remember: you WILL succeed!
