Why doctors don’t recommend vaping to smokers?

A recent survey by some doctors reveals the damage caused by vaping and even most doctors say”No” to all the patients who asks about quitting smoking and could use e-cigarettes instead. This survey is published in the “Annals of the American Thoracic Society” Journal by the two authors (one from the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and other from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN).

One patient (a 27-year-old woman) suffering from moderate-severe persistent asthma asks advice from the doctor. She is on a moderate dose of combined inhalation of “Fluticasone as well as Salmeterol”. The symptoms are now well controlled. During her interrogation, she asked if she could use electronic cigarettes to help stop smoking.

The doctors who refused the usage of E-cigarettes and offer only FDA-approved cessation products said:

“She has denied our prescriptions and she tried other drugs before quitting smoking as well, but she is not convinced to quit smoking and consistently asks about trying an E-Cigs instead”.

Doctors Hates Smoking So Much That Finally, They Came To Hate Smokers

Did you know? Only 27% of doctors suggest patients to try vaping, even though the patient said she won’t even use Chantix or nicotine gum! This is as good as the patient to say that she could smoke. Who’s to blame for this turbulent story? Are doctors who reject this patient a product of nicotine that could change her life? And also the organizations that have worked so hard to twist the truth about nicotine and vaping?

Dr. Michael Siegel from Boston University blames “Anti-nicotine Zealots” entirely for this. Siegel himself was once in their ranks with Stanton Glantz, he took training and working at the CDC’s office of smoking and health. But what he did to shape the opinions of public (mentally and medically) regarding vaping is disgusting. See what he Dr. Siegel says,

“No doubt this is really scary, but I do not blame the doctors. They were deceived and confused by the deceptive campaign and anti-smoking groups and some health authorities, including the FDA and CDC. These groups have lied to the doctors and deceived about the nature of electronic cigarettes and the risks of smoking compared to vaping.

For example, the CDC told the doctors that electronic cigarettes are just another “form of tobacco consumption.” On the other hand, the FDA told the doctors that vaping is not safer as compare to smoking. Many anti-smoking groups told doctors that vaping is actually worse than smoking. Several anti-tobacco researchers said the doctors that vaping is more harbors a cancer risk than smoking. Even some organizations have told the doctors that vaping causes “œbronchiolitis obliterans” (popcorn lung disease), without even suggesting that smoking also causes this serious and progressive lung disease.

Interestingly, even the Mayo Clinic (associated with four of the authors of this article) has been a large part of the problem. Doctors at the Mayo Clinic lied about e-cigarettes and said that vaping is not safer than smoking”.

Conclusion

Maybe the tobacco control industries just feel good to brainwash the doctors and mislead them about vaping. They don’t see the devastating effects of smoking every day because of their business. But my question is who’s to blame for this? Few names in my mind are

  • Matthew Myers And Campaign For “Tobacco-Free Children”
  • The (AHA) American Heart Association
  • Truth Initiative
  • University Of California
  • The American Academy Of Pediatrics
  • CDC
  • The (ALA) American Lung Association
  • The American Cancer Society
  • FDA

All these groups have become a massive industry even much larger than the vaping industry and also much more advanced in their anti-mitigation measures. Although, they think that they have won because they have brainwashed even the doctors who sworn to care for their patients.

It should be no great surprise that all of organizations listed, receive funding from tobacco taxes/ sales and/ or pharmaceutical companies. They want to ensure their funding doesn’t dry up.
