How to Vape Properly in 7 Easy Steps
The concept of vaping is pretty straightforward, but it does require some preparation. Even if you get a disposable e-cigarette that comes prefilled, you still need to learn how to turn it on and off and inhale for the best vaping experience.
Here are all the essential steps to vaping properly.
Assemble Your Vaping Device
Assembling your vaping device couldn’t be simpler. There are different types of vapes available online.
All you need to do is put the atomiser above the battery, place the cartridge (containing your e-liquid) in, attach the mouthpiece, and you’re all set.
Charge the Device
The next logical step is charging your vaping device. It takes about 1-2 hours to fully charge most of the available devices, but make sure you check the instructions.
The full charge will typically give you 6-12 hours of continuous vaping, depending on your device’s battery.
Decide on the Nicotine
This is important to do before inserting your e-liquid into the device simply because it may save you some time.
If you want to vape without nicotine, you can skip this step, obviously. But if you want nicotine, you have two choices. You can either get an e-liquid that already contains it or add a nicotine shot separately.
If you choose the latter, you need to manually add the shot to the e-liquid. Simply pour it into the e-liquid bottle, and you’re good to go.
E-liquids without nicotine (called short fills) produce much more vapour, so they’re ideal if you want to chase clouds. Of course, they’re also perfect if you’re not a smoker or want to quit.
Load the Cartridge with Your Preferred E-Liquid
Now that we’ve gotten the nicotine shot out of the way (or inside the e-liquid), it’s time to load your device.
Depending on the device, the cartridge with an e-liquid goes either directly above the atomiser or above the battery pack.
If you use a prefilled vaping device, there’s nothing else to do here. Once you use up all the vape juice, you replace the entire cartridge.
But if you have a refillable cartridge, fill it up using an eyedropper. Do it carefully to avoid a sticky mess.
Get the Hang of the Buttons
You would think that turning a vaping device on and off is something a baby could do. However, while it is that simple, it isn’t something that everyone knows right away.
That’s because you need to press the power button five times rapidly. Did you know that? It’s a very smart idea because it prevents you from accidentally turning your vaping device on while it’s in your pocket, for instance.
Now, if the light is blinking after you’ve pressed the button down five times, it means that you haven’t fully charged the battery. As a matter of fact, it means that the battery is almost out.
Once the device is on, you can adjust the temperature. Every vaping device comes with different heat controls and requires different vaping temperatures for the best experience.
Just remember that lower heat makes for a smoother and lighter vaping experience while vaping at higher temperatures is more intense.
Once you get the right temperature, you need to press and hold the button until the LED light flashes. Again, check the instructions, because not all devices are made the same.
Turning off the device is the same as turning it on – press the button five times rapidly.
Learn How to Inhale Properly
There’s no right or wrong way to vape. You’re going to vape exactly how you like it.
However, there are two methods of inhaling the vapour that you should be aware of. Knowing their effects may help you start on the right foot. You’re certain to experiment either way until you get the right vaping experience for your needs, but still, it doesn’t hurt to learn a bit upfront.
You can choose from these inhalation techniques:
- Mouth-to-lung (MTL)
- Direct-to-lung (DTL)
MTL works better with high nicotine, so it’s harsher on the throat and produces less vapour. DTL is better for nicotine-free e-liquids. It produces bigger clouds and is easier on the throat.
Regardless of the technique you use, make sure you take just a few brief puffs when you’re first starting. Otherwise, your experience may be more intense and not enjoyable.
Regularly Clean the Device
This is important for the quality of your vaping experience and for extending your vaping device’s life.
If you don’t regularly clean it, you won’t be able to enjoy the full, clean flavour of your e-liquid. Also, the coil and other internal parts wouldn’t last very long. So, take the time to clean the device after every few vaping sessions.
And there you have it. You’re now ready to start vaping properly. All that’s left is to choose the right vaping device for your needs and an e-liquid you’ll genuinely enjoy.
