The 15 Health Benefits of CBD Oil You Should be Aware of

Understanding the Difference Between THC & CBD

Since cannabis and cannabinoids have been getting more and more attention when it comes to the many beneficial properties they have for our health, there has also been a lot of talk about THC and CBD. In order to understand the difference between the two, you should make sure to do a thorough research on what each of them actually is.

The first important thing to keep in mind is that, although the two are both natural substances found in the cannabis plant, they actually greatly differ. One of the main differences between them is that THC makes you ‘high’, whereas CBD doesn’t. Another thing to be aware of is that the marijuana plant has a higher concentration of THC, whereas the hemp plant usually has a high concentration of CBD.

Another important thing to understand is that our bodies produce a certain amount of cannabinoids on their own. We also have two types of cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2. The majority of CB1 receptors are located in the brain, but also in our kidneys, lungs, and liver; and alongside with CB2s, they control our appetite, mood, memory, and pain sensation.

However, while THC binds with our CB1 receptors directly and thus produces a high (or just a sense of euphoria), CBD doesn’t. In fact, CBD usually does not bind with either of the receptors at all, making it the perfect choice for a natural remedy.

Additionally, the only similarity THC and CBD share, other than both being found in the marijuana plant, is their chemical structure. This may sound odd, but even though they share an identical molecular structure (21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms), due to the fact that their atoms are slightly differently arranged, the two do not have the same impact on our bodies.

In the past decade, CBD has had a breakthrough in medicine and is being used for many purposes, both due to the fact that it does not produce a high and its never-ending list of health benefits. If you decide to include CBD in your treatment, you can either ingest the oil orally, get yourself a CBD oil balm, or vape it!

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, most people tend to use CBD in order to relieve pain, and vaping CBD can help you get the wanted pain relief faster than ingesting it. However, not everyone is a fan of vaping and not every health condition requires this fast approach, so if you would rather stick to CBD oils, you still won’t be disappointed!

The medical benefits of CBD and THC are actually quite similar, and both provide a great relief from the same health conditions. Some of the conditions where CBD can play a major role are:

  • inflammation
  • pain
  • psychosis or mental disorders
  • inflammatory bowel disease
  • nausea
  • migraines
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • Seizures

As for the THC, it can be used to help with health conditions such as:

  • pain
  • muscle spasticity
  • glaucoma
  • insomnia
  • low appetite
  • nausea
  • anxiety

As you can see, the two can be used for similar purposes, but there is one important thing that truly sets them apart – the side effects. Not too many people know this, but CBD can be well-tolerated, even in large amounts. The only reason why using CBD can sometimes have side effects is the result of its interaction with other drugs you may be using at the moment.

THC, on the other hand, can have several temporary side effects, including:

  • increased heart rate
  • coordination problems
  • dry mouth
  • red eyes
  • slower reaction times
  • memory loss

One thing to keep in mind is that neither of these side effects is fatal, but having high THC levels can lead to long-term negative psychiatric effects. As for the side effects listed above, you should know that they usually pass in a matter of days or weeks.

What Temperature to Vape CBD

This is one of the reasons why most people tend to choose CBD as their go-to choice for a natural remedy. Although most studies on the subject are still in their early beginnings, the ones that have been conducted so far have shown that CBD oils are definitely something to keep in mind when it comes to choosing a healthy remedy.
